Team building

Haikyuu!! Dream Team

Dream Team deals you a fresh draft every day. A coach, seven players out of four pools, three rerolls, and one run at the Nationals Qualifiers. Get through and you are into a sixteen team Nationals bracket, one match at a time.

Every match is simulated point by point from your squad's stats, your captain and your gameplan, so the team you build is the whole game. Every player is dealt their own draw, so no two runs start from the same hand.

How a run works

  1. 1

    Pick a coach

Three dealt, each with a style of his own. Build to suit him.

  2. 2

    Draft seven

Each position deals you a fresh pool. Three rerolls for the whole draft.

  3. 3

    Name a captain

He counts for more, and your setter looks for him.

  4. 4

    Set a gameplan

Your starting six and the play your setter runs.

  5. 5

    Qualifiers

A four team bracket, with a second chance if you drop one.

  6. 6

    Nationals

Sixteen teams, from the Round of 16 to the final.

Seven finishes

Where you land decides the Rally Points the run pays. Playing at all keeps your Dream Team streak alive.

Reading a box score

Every match ends with a sheet for both sides: a line per player, then blocks for the libero, the hitters, the passers, the middles and the setter. This is what each column counts.

  • Points won is every player's PTS plus the other side's errors.
  • A hitter can only swing at the balls the pass lets the setter send them, so a quiet kill count is usually fewer swings, not a bad day.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Dream Team?

You pick a coach from the three you are dealt, draft seven players from the day's pools, name a captain, set your gameplan, then play the Nationals Qualifiers and, if you get through, Nationals. Every match simulates point by point and you watch it play out. One run a day, and every player is dealt a draw of their own.

Can I pick any character I want?

No, and that is the game. Setters, middle blockers and liberos each deal you a pool of four players and the spikers a pool of eight, drawn fresh every day, and you get three rerolls to spend across the whole draft. Working out the best team from the hand you are dealt is the puzzle.

What does a coach do?

Before the draft you are dealt three of the sixteen canon head coaches and pick one. Each plays his school's way for the whole run: Ukai's tempo beats the block, Nekomata's side receives better, Washijō feeds the ace. Every school you meet has a coach of its own, so draft the seven that suits yours.

Who plays opposite?

You pick three spikers, outside hitters and opposite hitters from one pool, and your rotation decides. The spiker standing across from your setter plays opposite: he swings from the right, blocks more and passes less. The other two play outside.

What are the placements, best to worst?

Champion, Runner-up, Semi-finalist, Quarter-finalist, Round of 16, Nationals Qualifiers 3rd Place, Nationals Qualifiers 4th Place. Your finish decides the Rally Points the run pays and feeds your Dream Team streak.

Who am I playing against?

The opponents are 24 fictional schools spread across the prefectures, not the real Haikyu!! teams. A day draws fifteen of them, so a school you have met before turns up about two days in three, and its seven players are redrawn every time.

What is a Rival?

The school that knocks you out gets tagged as your Rival, and it stays tagged in the draw, the bracket and the match preview until you beat it. Beating it reads as revenge. The ledger is kept in your browser, so it does not follow you to another device.

Does Dream Team reset every day?

Yes, at midnight Sydney time. You get one run per day. A run in progress is kept in your browser until then, so you can close the tab and come back to it.

Is Haikyuudle official?

No. Haikyuudle is an unofficial fan project. Haikyu!! and its characters belong to Haruichi Furudate and Shueisha.
