Your Rumble record
Frequently asked questions
How do you play Rumble?
You pick one of the day's twelve schools, draw a seat in the draft order, draft a coach, then draft seven players out of the whole Haikyu!! cast while eleven rival schools pick from the same board. You name one of the seven as your ace, then play a group stage, a round robin rumble and a knockout bracket. One run a day, and everyone drafts the same board.
How is Rumble different from Dream Team?
Dream Team deals you a small pool for each position. Rumble puts the whole cast on one board and eleven rivals take from it too, so a player you want is gone the moment somebody else calls their name. The tournament is longer as well: a group stage, a round robin and a knockout instead of one bracket.
What does naming an ace do?
Once the draft is over you name one of your seven as the ace. He plays above his own game for the rest of the tournament, which is enough to decide a close match and not enough to save a thin roster. All twelve schools name one, so it is a judgement call rather than a handout, and you make it on the same six profile stats you drafted on.
What does a coach do?
Before the players there is a round, run in reverse order, where every school drafts a coach from sixteen real ones, from Ukai and Nekomata to Washijō and Kurosu. Each coach brings their school's style for the rest of the tournament: Ukai's tempo beats the block, Washijō's ace hits harder, Oiwake builds a wall and Anabara's side gains a bonus somewhere different each set. It is a nudge rather than a rescue, so draft your seven to suit the coach you took, and a coach another school takes first is gone.
Can I draft anyone I want?
Anyone still on the board and in a position you have left to fill. The board never has to refuse you: twelve teams of seven take 84 of the 120 players, and every position has more left than there are slots waiting, so there is always a legal pick at your last turn. What you cannot have is somebody another school already took.
Where are the opposite hitters?
Outside hitters and opposite hitters are drafted together as three spikers, so you are never stuck because the opposites ran out. Your formation decides who plays opposite: the spiker standing across from your setter swings from the right, blocks more and passes less, and the other two play outside. You can move them between any two matches.
Does the seat I draw decide my run?
No, and that is why the order snakes. Over seven rounds the best and worst seats sit within 4% of each other on total pick number, where a straight repeating order would leave nearly 30%. A late seat picks twice in a row at the turn.
Who are the twelve schools?
They are fictional, drawn from 24 made up schools spread across the prefectures, not the real Haikyu!! teams. A day's seed picks twelve of them and gives everybody the same field, so the school you pick is a name, a set of colours and a prefecture. The seven you draft are the team.
What are the finishes, best to worst?
Champion, Runner-up, Semi-finalist, Rumble stage, Group stage. Where you land decides the Rally Points the run pays, and playing at all keeps your Rumble streak alive.
Does Rumble reset every day?
Yes, at midnight Sydney time. You get one run per day. A run in progress is kept in your browser until then, so you can close the tab and come back to it.
Is Haikyuudle official?
No. Haikyuudle is an unofficial fan project. Haikyu!! and its characters belong to Haruichi Furudate and Shueisha.
